Volunteering In the School

Being involved within your child school not only helps the school but research shows that students excel. At Herig we encourage parents to be involved with our Herig Helping Hands (HHH), which is our parent group. If you wish to volunteer in a classroom or on a field trip please fill out a volunteer card in the office. If you have any questions about how you can get invovled please contact Aaron Bailey, our Parent-Liaison for Herig Elementary.

Attendance Guidelines

Attendance is a very important part of your child’s education.  When they miss school, they not only miss out on learning but the absences can become a truancy issue.

A morning tardy occurs when your child arrives between 8:31 a.m. – 8:45 a.m.

An afternoon tardy occurs when a child leaves between 2:55 p.m. – 3:14 p.m.

Morning absences occur when your child arrives after 8:46 a.m.

Afternoon absences occur when your child leaves before 2:54 p.m.

If your child has an appointment please bring a note from the doctor, dentist or appointment.

Please call 399-4352 or 399-4353 to report an absence for your child.

DEPARTMENT OF HUMAN SERVICES
PATHWAYS TO POTENTIAL

Pathways to Potential is DHS’s new human services model that focuses on the following critical
elements working together to meet the needs of our clients:

• Public Programs
• Private Partners
• Informal Networks/Faith Based Supports

The Pathways to Potential model reflects the understanding that accessing public benefits is just one
piece of a long pathway that people must take to reach their healthiest and fullest potential. Pathways to Potential model is to take the services to the people who need them, rather than making people come to a local DHS office. DHS has workers in communities where people are looking for help.
